Gosper glider gun
Please read the introduction page.
Guns are patterns that repeat periodically like an oscillator and thereby emit new patterns. That means that a finite number of cells can produce an unlimited number of new cells. The discovery of a glider gun by Bill Gosper came as a complete surprise to Conway. It is the smallest gun so far, too.
